G.B.O. was born and raised in the East African city of Nairobi, Kenya. He started writing songs at the age of 10, inspired by parallels in the urban lives of the people around him and those in the media. 12 years on, he is still writing and performing, growing every day as an artist.
While studying engineering in London, G.B.O. finally released his first mixtape in 2009, entitled, “Goin’ For Gold”. This was followed by another mixtape, “After the 1st”, the year after. Although certain songs such as “Make Your Move”, “Sunrise to Sunset” and “Addict”, were released to good reviews, the mixtape was never released in its entirety.
In order to successfully juggle his degree course and artist life, G.B.O. developed what many term as an unparalleled work ethic. He produces and taught himself how to master and mix all his own records. “Who better to find the sound I am searching for but me?” he reasoned. He is currently working on his first full studio album.
G.B.O. is on radio rotation with the tracks “Like Me” and “Let Me Breathe”
