JARIKO Has The Charm And The Swagger!

Jariko is an American singer/songwriter who began his musical journey at 13 years old armed with nothing more than grim determination and a spray painted, technicolor boom box as his P.A. system. While his passions for music run across the board, Jariko found solace, at a very young age, in the artistry of internationally acclaimed musicians Elton John and Darren Hayes of Savage Garden.

Jariko’s creative development was stunted temporarily after losing nearly every possession he had to a house fire which left him displaced and devastated, but not long after, Jariko finally made it to California to pursue writing his self-titled Ep, after performing successfully in Chicago with Journey.

I will be honest right out from the start. I can’t objectively talk about any of Jariko’s work, as I do believe if this guy has the right management and marketing team behind him, that he WILL be the next big thing in dance-pop music!

Ne-yo, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, and Jason Derulo are the crowd Jariko could step into with ease, right now. His dance-pop rhythms are soaked in vivid personality, catchy melodies, and a vocal prowess that will leave you breathless. I’m not usually a fan of mainstream sounding pop artists, but I was absolutely blown away by this 5-track Ep, from start to finish!

Jariko presents a style that’s both easy going yet makes you want to jump up and start dancing. He and his production team have masterfully created songs that are very easy to listen to and enjoy, and just make you feel so good inside too!

Jariko has the charm, the swagger, and his voice is really out of this world. Each song on this Ep could stand on its own as a single. My personal favorites are “Contagious Love,” “Sick Obsession” and “Angels” because they’re all very emotional, and you can feel the honesty in his voice, which has a huge range. He is also gritty, smooth, soulful, sharp, and gentle when it’s called upon, and he does all of this while maintaining a relaxed and comfortable vocal timbre. Though containing only 5 songs, there is a song for all moods here; party mood, sad mood and love mood. You really couldn’t ask for more from an Ep!

Overall this Ep finds Jariko taking a particular style of dance-pop that today is often associated with just about everything that’s flawed and disposable, and applies rhythmic, melodic and vocal beauty to transform it into something much more interesting . This gives his music the effect of being modern enough for dancers, only looking for beats and rhythms, yet it is musically rich enough for casual listening as well.

It borrows from the past, remains in the present and nods to the future. As and when, Jariko chooses to expand his music from this level, there most definitely will be even better things likely to come.

Any objective person who listens to Jariko’s self-titled Ep, will instinctively feel the vibe and talent contained therein. Those like me, simply fall hopelessly in love with it!
