G-Unit just recently collaborated with Buffalo’s own rising R&B music star Mack Benton on “Nah I’m Talking ‘Bout”. Adrian Mack Benton is an American R&B singer, songwriter, actor, model, and dancer. Mack grew up in Buffalo, New York where he lived with his mother and stepfather. Mack was 17 when he decided to become a singer. He was discovered at age nineteen and signed by Sonicdaproducer and K-Swift to LA Musiq Productions. His musical influences include Chris Brown, Ryan Leslie, Musiq Soulchild and Maxwell. His first introduction to the music industry was his single “Ma Baby” which topped local charts and was nominated for several awards.
This single is so well thought out that it will make you think Mack Benton has some type of hidden formula or secret touch every time he drops a new track. On “Nah I’m Talking ‘Bout”, he hits with a banging groove cover of the G-Unit number, to let us know he can do it better. And he does! Giving this an R&B classic status!
This is pure eargasm for both R&B and Hiphop fans. This is where the lady listener falls in love with Mack and the male listener wishes he had sung this song. I have to say that this young gentleman got my attention right away with this track.
Mack Benton is talented and he doesn’t seem to be pretentious about it, which is a good thing. Sure he’s got a little swagger going on there, but just enough to maintain the cred, never to over-emphasize or disrespect.
50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo , Young Buck and Kidd Kidd have a simple story laid out well. They paint an easy picture in black and white; ultimately it’s the lesser known Mack Benton who adds the vibrant colors and timbres.
The production and vocals in my humble opinion is just about perfect. When I listen to music I look for a connection. With Mack Benton you can feel what is coming from the headphones or speakers. He deals out real emotion. Add this to your collection and listen to it as much as you can!
