Successfully releasing yet another song from his upcoming debut album, Sarantos Melogia continues to juggle his busy schedule with radio interviews, band rehearsals and booking live performances in the states.
Not too long ago, Sarantos lost his devoted father, after a hard-fought battle to lung cancer. This experience had a major impact on Sarantos’ life, enabling him to overcome many obstacles that may pass. The Chicago singer has since been driven to remain strong and positive not just for himself but for his friends & fans.
“Going through life’s hardships has given me the willpower to write songs and to sing from the heart,” says Sarantos. “I wouldn’t have had the passion to strive for my dreams if it wasn’t for my loving family. I know my father would have been very proud of me.”
Sarantos is at his best when his complex melodic ideas are designed to slowly seep into your sub-conscious in such a way that one line like “I think I feel love, let’s call it love”, triggers immediate auditory recall of that song’s lyrics and melody.
Let me be clear – Sarantos has never released a “bad” track. I just happen to prefer certain production and songwriting techniques that are present on “Let’s Call It Love”. Fortunately, it also happens to be a flawless composition that is undeniably groovy.
I was at once more drawn immediately into the warmth of his unique, tender and catchy laid-back style and lyrical poetry. The excellent music gives sterling support and the beguiling rhythm is just magical. It has been wonderful to appreciate its subtleties and nuances more and more on repeated playing.
“Let’s Call It Love” includes the kind of bass lines I love, where the instrument rises from its usual position of undergirding the tune, to render its own beautiful sound as if to say, “I don’t just do bass, I can sing, too!”
Sarantos Melogia has consistently given us quality work over the last couple of years. This single keeps that consistency going. “Let’s Call It Love” is a culmination of subtlety, sophistication, coolness, sublime passion, and warmth in music.
