Chicago singer-songwriter, Sarantos Melogia is back with his second single, ‘Nothing To Hide’. Sarantos, as we confirmed in a previous review, has been writing lyrics since 4th grade. Music was always been his passion and much more than a hobby – as he has written over 2,000 songs!
Sarantos who will be finally releasing his long-awaited and eagerly anticipated debut solo album during 2014, has undergone several personal challenges with his father passing away two years ago, after a long hard-fought battle with lung cancer. Sarantos’ main motivation, however, is to raise money for charity; 33% of any music related sales are going straight to charity!
Sarantos Melogia released his first song called “Not Where I Wanna Be” on January 2nd this year and 33% of all profits generated in any way from this song will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
‘Nothing To Hide’ will share its profit with American Lung Cancer. It starts like a deceptively simple sounding song but soon it floats into a haunting, dream-like chorus. After multiple listens, tiny details emerge revealing that there is a lot going on beneath the surface of the music. The song is “about a man who has nothing to hide in spite of the repeated accusations and fears of his loved one. He feels like he has lost control of his life and wonders if he made a mistake from the very start. He does not understand why she feels this way about a secret passion…” Without wanting to give any secrets away, we can tell you that the ‘secret passion’ is his music!
If love music that draws you in….you listen through once, and you kind of like the song. You find yourself playing it in your head all day long. You listen again, and then the music and lyrics start to come to life. Soon, it becomes a go-to listen in the car, at home, during a walk on the iPod. There are different things to find, but there is depth, melody, and always more to discover.
Well, ‘Nothing To Hide’ appears to be such a piece of music. When the first song was released – “Not Where I Wanna Be” – it was hard to make sense of what was about to come next. But that first song actually set up a remarkable experience – in a way, I consider this new single to be part of different episodes and moods in Sarantos’ life experiences, but it has an overall meaning, which obviously will be revealed piece by piece, after each new release.
Sarantos has chosen 12 charities for each song on his upcoming album, including the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, Make-a-Wish Foundation, American Heart Association, St Jude’s, Hellenic Academy, ASERF, American Red Cross, Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Chicago Medical School, Thanioton Society & the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Kindly support these…and grab some good music along the way!
