Based out of South Jersey, The Bad Bees are a four piece indie/rock alternative band comprising of Jacob Barbadoro (Vocals, Guitar), Brandon King (Lead Guitar), Bryan Kell (Bass) and Ryan Kenny (Drums).

One of the freshest new rock bands in years, they a blast in and out and leave you dizzy. The EP “Fast Paced Space” is a fierce little chunk of music that blends together a dozen different alternative musical styles into a big glorious mélange.

The Bad Bees is not what most people may think of as a clichéd rock band. They rock, for sure. But they cram in about every musical style that shouldn’t fit together: indie, psychedelia, experimental, progressive, and a touch of jazz-fusion. They’re even capable of doing it all in one song – checkout “StarCrushed” for some wondrous proof.

Rather than defying the standards of rock music though, the The Bad Bees grabs those standards and twist them into an impressive mosaic. The only invariable constant is Jacob Barbadoro’s deliciously high register voice which never drops a single note the whole way through. For the rest, the players take this music down every musical highway!

Barbadoro bobs in and out of the explosive music, his voice sounding almost like another instrument being played – whether he’s wailing or murmuring. Listen to his magnificent sonic avalanche on “Hotrod”.

Three songs, less than 15 minutes, but it seems like a whole hour when you listen to this EP closely, maybe because of the complexity of the songs; the interesting instrumental twist and turns, the more-than-ordinary tempos and changes, the superb layering, mixing and mastering – all which render everything crisp and clear to the listener.

Right from the opening track, “Two Red Suns”, what The Bad Bees has given the music world with this EP is a peek at the future. This band could be a major contributor to the evolution of music over the next few years, provided they can keep it together.

“Fast Paced Space” defines The Bad Bees as well as sets them apart from their peers. Precise, passionate and uncompromising, this EP sounds like reality itself bending – replete with blazing soundscapes and incredible vocals. If you listen long enough you can find influences from almost every form of music.

The Bad Bees is especially great at nonstandard song structures and an ever shifting instrumental story with highs, lows, and everything in between. Yet, notwithstanding their creative expression and challenging arrangements, at the end of every song, you’ll be amazed at how accessible and engaging their music sounds. And that in my book is definitely The Bad Bees’ most defining factor!
