Anthony Nelson & The Overcomers releases their highly anticipated debut album “Love Jesus, Love People”. This follows hot on the heels of the release of their groundbreaking and chart-topping, lead single “Born in Bethlehem” a couple of months back. Anthony Nelson & The Overcomers’ musical style can be considered forward and refreshing. Their ministry speaks to the heart of a new generation and their uniqueness is unmatched and unparalleled. Anthony Nelson is an ordained deacon, a multi-instrumentalist and an amazing man when it comes to his music, there is so much energy put into every song he writes, composes, produces or performs. You can tell he loves the Lord with every fiber of his being. You can also tell he loves what he is doing and so too, do the ensemble of players and singers, who make up the project Anthony Nelson & The Overcomers.
Every song on the album is amazing. You don’t have to skip through to find your favorite track, as every song will be your favorite track. From worship, to praise from high pitch to low pitch, from fast tempo to slow, from soul, to pop to gospel… this album has all styles wrapped up into it. Like no gospel you’ve ever heard before! No doubt Anthony Nelson & The Overcomers is collective of artists who God has used to take worship and praise to a whole new level. It’s a contemporary beat with an old message. Its modern riffs that expound upon worship flavor.
Gospel music has received a bad “rep” for years. Anthony Nelson & The Overcomers’ “Love Jesus, Love People” album, redefines how many view and define gospel music. The musicality, the vocals, the anointing, it’s amazing in every aspect. Every time you listen to this music and it doesn’t matter which track, you will be inspired, motivated, encouraged and empowered to live for God. The ensemble’s worship and praising of God are electric and contagious that it’ll make you want to dance for Jesus! I’m specifically thinking of songs such as “Give Me A Clean Heart”, “Love My Enemies”, “Born In Bethlehem”, “Rejoice”, This Too Shall Pass” and “Dedicate”. But these are only personal preferences, as this project is the perfect blend of exceptional musicianship and anointing, all throughout! The songwriting is meaningful, the musicality is off the charts, and the blended vocals are second to none…in any genre!
Anthony Nelson demonstrates his abilities as a great songwriter and minister of music on this album. The songs minister to the hearts of people and the melodies pull you in. There is a little something for everyone on this project, but from the beginning to the end, you feel the heart of a worshiper. I can honestly say this without bias – as I am not a true Christian…born again or otherwise. Yet the music ministry in this album, made me want to jump up after each song and tell someone just how wonderful the Lord is!
Right from the start it is clear that “Love Jesus, Love People” is filled with power and spirit, musical innovation, and creativity! It is very easy to sense God’s presence all over this project. In today’s music, finding all of this in one project is a rarity. Anthony Nelson is truly blessed with many gifts and surrounded with great singers, including Melini Redditt, Hollis Brown Redditt, Lynn Burnett, Minister Michael Burnett, Shalandra “Dee” Irvin, and Charles Frazier.
