While he’s never really been away from the spotlight, Donny Richmond, or “Uncle Donny” as he’s also affectionately known, really is back, and in a big way, after having devoted much of the last several years to focusing on his family, and raising his 2 (very handsome) sons.
Donny’s new album, entitled “Uncle Donny Is Back!” currently has seen 3 singles charting simultaneously in the Top 30 for the international Airplay Express Countdown. “A Satisfied Mind”, Donny’s remake of Porter Wagoner’s #1 Hit, has now become a #1 for Donny.
“The Dream Theme”, written by Donny and David Walker, also looks to be headed for the #1 spot, having risen from #38 to #17 in just 2 weeks. And “The Happiest Guy in The Whole U.S.A.” is currently also still rising. A devoted family man, both of Donny’s sons – Donny Jr (now 18) and Carl (now 14) appeared along with Donny in the 2016 feature Movie, “The Christmas Reunion”, a cute, family friendly Christmas story from Rossetti Productions, about renewing old friendships, and forgiveness.
Donny makes his home in beautiful Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, known for its’ world famous native, Dolly Parton, and her theme park, Dollywood. In fact, Donny, a multi-award winning recording artist/entertainer, and a member of the International Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame, was chosen to induct Dolly Parton into the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame, in a presentation at Dollywood’s Chasing Rainbows Museum, in 2010. This event was featured in a Dolly Parton TV Special, which also included a clip of Dolly with Donny’s youngest son, Carl.
2014 saw Donny Richmond and Donny Richmond Jr’s duet recording of “Pray” reach #1 on the international God’s Country Music Chart. The fact is, even while spending less time touring and more time with family, Donny has charted over 25 singles internationally since 2006, with #1s in more than a dozen countries, on Country, Gospel, Easy Listening, and Pop charts. And his TV Specials have aired on national networks of numerous countries.
Donny’s 2017 movie appearance, starring in “Saving Faith”, with Henry Cho, Jenn Gotzon, and Jim Chandler, provides 2 of the songs included on “Uncle Donny Is Back!” Both “Ridin’ Out The Storm” and “The Smaller The Town” are former #1 Chart Hits on national U.S. charts, and have reached high into international charts. They are now digitally re-mastered. Several national and international TV appearances are slated for “Uncle Donny” in the immediate future. While he will be doing more personal appearances and traveling more, plans include often bringing the family along, now that their upbringing is well established.
Donny feels that his investment of time with his family has truly paid off. Eldest son, Donny Jr, who recently completed his senior year at the private Christian school, The King’s Academy (TKA), in Tennessee, graduated with honors, and was an “all-star” athlete for his high school baseball team. Among his many accomplishments, he was voted “Mr. TKA 2017” by his graduating classmates, and the school staff. His public speaking has seen many of his peers and contemporaries express new commitment to their Christian faith.
Young Carl, just turned 14, has become quite the accomplished actor, having already appeared in 3 feature movies, a holographic production as young David from the Bible for a Pigeon Forge music theater, and several TV shows. Carl played the true to life part of Uncle Donny’s son in the movie, “Saving Faith”, for which Donny was nominated Best Lead Actor in a Feature Film by the International Christian Film Festival (regarded as the Oscars of Christian films). Carl is also interested in ministry oriented activities, and is gaining experience working with younger kids as a counselor and activity director. Yes, Donny Richmond is back! And with many blessings to be thankful for!
