From Life’s Daily Struggles to the Stage’s Brightest Moments, MegaDestroyer Shine on “Beneath the Lights”

Omaha alternative rock trio MegaDestroyer has released its new single, “Beneath the Lights,” available now on all major streaming platforms. Produced by Adam James and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound Nashville, the track follows “STEAM” and “Parachutes.” “Beneath the Lights” finds MegaDestroyer thinking bigger, expanding its power-trio foundation with electronic pop ambition.

Formed in 2024, MegaDestroyer features Colin Moore on guitar and vocals, Ric Orta on bass and vocals, and Marlon “Marlo” Lowe on drums. The trio’s early work brought together alternative rock, pop-punk, and groove-driven arrangements, with Moore and Orta’s vocal interplay becoming an important part of its sound.

MegaDestroyer introduced that sound with “STEAM,” released in March 2026 alongside an official video. The song combined Moore’s interest in science and astronomy with a broader theme of rebuilding and personal transformation. “Parachutes,” whose video premiered in May, followed with a more melodic exploration of friendship and resilience. It also led directly to the collaboration behind the new single: James discovered “Parachutes” on Spotify and reached out to Moore about working together.

With “Beneath the Lights,” that partnership pushed MegaDestroyer beyond its initial power-trio arrangement while retaining the vocals and guitar parts from Moore’s original recording. MegaDestroyer’s willingness to push beyond its earlier releases makes “Beneath the Lights” a compelling next chapter.

“We’re a power trio rock band, but this flirts with electro pop and really pushes us into uncharted waters,” says Moore. “Working directly with Adam James producing this track really raised the standard of our expectations for our music, both sonically and in quality of writing.”

Lyrically, the song addresses the collision between youthful ambition and adult responsibilities—the point where pursuing a passion starts competing with simply making ends meet. Its title recalls the experience of stepping onstage and connecting with an audience, something Moore describes as a lasting reminder of why he continues making music.

“If there is one song that defines my career, I think this is it,” he says. “Beneath the Lights” is the kind of tune that gets stuck in your head after the first listen! An accompanying music video has finished filming, with premiere details to follow.

“‘Beneath the Lights’ sets the new standard for everything going forward,” says Moore. “We’re only scratching the surface of what’s coming next.” “Beneath the Lights” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
